How to choose the best PPM software for your projects

Every solution looks alike on its website. The choice becomes clear once you start from your own constraints.

Search the web for project management solutions and you find dozens that all look alike. The right question is not which one is best in general, but which one fits your organization, your maturity and the decisions you actually need to make.

Start from the decisions, not the features

List the three or four decisions the tool must support — arbitrating between projects, spotting overloads, holding a budget, billing on delivered work — then check each candidate against those. Feature checklists reward vendors, not buyers.

The criteria that separate tools

Depth of resource management (capacity, multi-project workload), budget and margin tracking, hybrid support for planned and agile work, openness of the API, hosting and sovereignty options, and the real cost of adoption for occasional contributors.

Test with your own data

A demo with vendor data proves nothing. Import a real portfolio, invite three or four people who will use it daily and run one month of real life. FoxPlan offers a free plan and a full trial precisely so that decision rests on evidence.
